I've been offline for a while....just catching up here....How's everybody?
by Frannie Banannie ini moved back to beaumont to stay with crabby pants.
was in dialup hell for a while because the computer was attached to cp's phone line.
he couldn't stand for me to be online for any length of time because it might have interferred with him getting to scream, cuss and roar at telemarketers and slam the phone down over and over hard enough to break it.

National Healthcare for the USA
by sammielee24 injust an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.
you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.
it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.

"I prefer beans, rice, and any other 'whole food' to processed crap. I find you eat much less of it, actually."
Same here. I just prefer not to eat beans and rice at EVERY meal, if you know what I'm sayin'. Processed crap costs less than the way we do eat. My daughter is a vegan (and home-schooled, yet another expense) and we only buy organic fruits and vegetables (when they're not too outrageously priced).
You must have had a helluva tight budget when you were a single mom. Personally I can't handle the stress of spending my paychecks down to the penny which is what I'd be doing if I insured my child. For my own peace of mind, I need to have that small cash cushion left after the bills are paid. I'm a dice roller, I guess. And it's easier to put the noninsured issue out of my mind when I actually have that surplus on the 14th and the 29th. -

LDH, you're right. It is about priorities. (Although if it were only $85 to add my daughter to my insurance, I would have done it long ago.) I choose not to eat beans and rice. I choose to pay cash for my daughter's (infrequent) doctor visits/prescriptions and gamble that nothing catastrophic will happen before she's old enough to get a job that will hopefully enable her to afford her own insurance.
I guess it just bothers me that given how few extras I allow myself (no [very rare] vacations, no new clothes until something falls apart and then just a replacement, no college fund for my kid, 10-year-old car, [I even gave up diet Coke!]), I still can't insure my child without causing severe strain to my pocketbook. And I'm in a really good place compared to a lot of people I know. -

"As an example, here ya go HL You said you can't afford to add your kid to your plan. http://www.hhsc.state.tx.us/chip/index.html "
She doesn't qualify. We fall in the middle with the other 45 million who make too much for federal aid and not enough for private insurance. -

"Perhaps you missed the part where I said we have a $500 per person out of pocket max. That's per calendar year. So god forbid something happens next year, oops, write another check for $500."
This doesn't exactly follow the example of what happened to Rabbit's friend. If, because your husband had to be continually hospitalized over the course of a couple of years, his employer terminated him and again because of his illness, he couldn't find a job with comparable benefits, then what?
Sometimes bright spots turn to nightmares, despite well-thought-out planning. Stories DO matter to those of us who choose not to dismiss them.

But when I'm pissed- the waterworks turn on.
Same here and I HATE it.
No advice to give, other than what's already been said, especially by cognizant and sass my frass. I think if, like me, you're not used to being reprimanded or called into the boss's office for anything but praise, then when something negative does happen, it can be devastating, especially when it feels unjust. It's very frustrating to not be able to get out what you need to say because if you open your mouth, you'll lose it.
My company has been through five rounds of layoffs since 9/11, so I know what it feels like to walk around with that sickness inside because you don't know if you're going to have a job tomorrow.
I wish I had a remedy for the dry heaves, but you'll just have to settle for a hug today. (((Decki))) And there's nothing wrong with sharing this experience with the board. We want to help if we can.

I don't see how it's "stooping to someone's level" to report insubordinate behavior by the employee of any business. If Joe Blow at Target had treated you shabbily, would you be having qualms about reporting to his manager? The behavior of both of these women is unacceptable and just because you inform their superiors doesn't mean they'll be fired.

2) food portions in restaurants are like DOUBLE those in England
4) I feel so slim here cos so many people (where I am) are overweight.
3) The roads are so WIDE and parking spaces are so huge
So what I get from this is: 2 + 4 = 3.
(Actually, something doesn't feel right about that equation. Perhaps I shouldn't ADD 4 to the 2, but factor it exponentially somehow, since it's a result of 2 [as 3 could be a result of both 2 and 4]. Help me, math teacher, please.)
